Background
Simona has over 16 years of experience in international pharmacy-related consultancy. Prior to joining ResultsinHealth, she worked on World Health Organisation programmes in more than 20 countries. Simona participated in the elaboration of policy guidelines, assessing pharmaceutical sectors in drug supply management, and ensuring rational use and affordable pricing of pharmaceuticals. She speaks French, English, Russian and Bulgarian. Simona is based in France.

Simona has extensive experience working on health facility and community levels, allowing her to understand drug supply issues from the perspective of both the health system and end users: “I am happy contributing to improving pharmaceutical supply and making health care in countries more effective.”

Blandine Sibille

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Blandine is a pharmacist with considerable experience in development, particularly in Central and West African countries. Her experience includes strengthening and coordinating access systems for HIV treatment, developing data collection systems, and developing health insurance systems for NGOs, and public and private sector parties. Blandine speaks English, in addition to her native French. She is based in France.

Key achievement at ResultsinHealth
Blandine’s contributions to ResultsinHealth have focused on systems assessments. She has an interest in improving efficiency, and has developed a passion for the application and use of data systems in quantification and inventory control. Blandine sees the use of data as key in improving access: “Better data systems to monitoring stock levels, consumption and use are not a luxury; they are indispensable for achieving better health care for populations.”

Ron Wehrens

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor, MBA

Background
Ron’s career is dedicated towards improving pharmaceutical supply in low- and middle-income countries. Over the past 20 years, he has been working mostly on medicine forecasting, procurement and warehouse-management. He is an inspiring trainer and a regular consultant for WHO. Ron has worked in more than 30 countries. He joined the ResultsinHealth team in 2008 and provides procurement and supply management expert services related to Global Fund grants in mainly Asian countries.

Ron likes to provide practical and easy to implement solutions. “I am passionate about achieving maximum health care results out of resources that are often limited in availability”, says Ron.

Veerle Coignez

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Veerle has 15 years of professional experience in international public health and pharmaceutical policy. She started as a European Union policy consultant in Brussels, and worked thereafter for the World Bank and USAID in Africa, Central America, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Prior to joining ResultsinHealth, Veerle worked as a pharmaceutical management advisor at USAID/Washington, DC, overseeing USAID’s programme to strengthen medicines’ quality assurance and combat substandard and counterfeit medicines. Veerle’s strengths are in pharmaceutical system analysis, strategy development, and program management. She speaks Dutch, English, French, Spanish, German and Russian. Veerle is based in the Netherlands.

Veerle’s satisfaction comes when programmes achieve concrete outcomes. Such moments have been there in her ResultsinHealth work: “I relish the opportunities where I can help turn a programme into an effective development instrument, resulting in patients receiving the care they need”.

Maria Miralles

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Maria has more than 25 years of experience in the global health and has worked in more than a dozen countries throughout the world to help address pharmaceutical management challenges to access to and the appropriate use of medicines.  Prior to becoming a ResultsinHealth Associate, she worked for a variety of public sector agencies including USAID, UNICEF, World Bank, PAHO and WHO, as well as private sector clients, universities, and foundations. She has developed, managed and contributed to several small and large, multi-country programs supporting global public health initiatives for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, as well as maternal and child health and advocacy for the containment of antimicrobial resistance. With a strong background in operations research and a particular interest in metrics and health system strengthening, Maria is concerned about all aspects of pharmaceutical systems and services.  Based in the United States, Maria speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Key achievement at ResultsinHealth
Maria joined the ResultsinHealth team in 2015. Since then, she has provided support to the Global Fund LFA teams in Colombia, Panama and Jamaica by conducting procurement reviews and capacity assessments. “Improving access to and use of essential medicines and related public health commodities is my passion,” says Maria. “It is a great privilege to work with such dedicated and talented teams working toward the same goal.”

Peace Kabagambe

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Peace is a pharmacist with more than nine years experience in strengthening health commodity supply chains in sub-Saharan Africa. Peace has experience in regulation, procurement and supply chain management of health commodities. She particularly likes capacity building and training staff in charge of health commodity management with a clear preference for the lowest levels of the supply chain. Peace speaks English in addition to her native languages Lutooro and Luganda. Peace is based in Uganda.

Peace has conducted a number of pharmaceutical and supply chain assessments for Global Fund grants in Rwanda, Liberia and Sierra Leone: “Coming from a beneficiary country of Global Fund resources, I am proud to be part of a team that ensures that these resources reach the people that need them most.”

Andrea Gardellin

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Based in Italy, Andrea is a pharmaceutical advisor with 20 years of experience in Italy and low-income countries. Prior to becoming a ResultsinHealth’ Associate, he worked with the Italian Development Cooperation and NGOs in health programmes in a number of countries. He has provided technical assistance in hospital pharmacy, supply chain management, and rational use. Apart from his Local Fund Agent (LFA) work with ResultsinHealth, he has done assignments for the Global Fund’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Andrea speaks Italian, English and Portuguese.

Andrea joined the ResultsinHealth team in 2011, and since then, he has been involved in supply chain reviews within Global Fund grants in multiple countries. “I am happy to be part of a team that has an important role in strengthening access to and use of medicines for three of the major diseases in low- and middle-income countries”.

Vincent Hamel

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Vincent worked for several years for Pharmaciens Sans Frontières in Africa and Asia, implementing projects to improve access to medicines for the general population and people living with HIV/AIDS. Vincent especially enjoys strengthening the capacity of health professionals at every level of the health pyramid. In addition to his native French, Vincent speaks English, French, Spanish and Khmer. Vincent is based in Cambodia.

Analysing national health systems, identifying bottlenecks and finding solutions is what Vincent appreciates most in his ResultsinHealth assignments: “It is exciting to be part of a team that works on innovative global solutions to the three most important global diseases.”

Langton Mukura

Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Langton has over seven years of experience working in several countries in the sub-Saharan Africa region, including his native Zimbabwe, Malawi and South Sudan. His main area of expertise is training and research on issues of access to medicines including pharmaceutical management. He has considerable experience in supply chain reviews and monitoring and evaluation at an international level, in particular in HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He speaks English, Shona, and Chichewa. Langton is based in Zimbabwe.

Key achievements at ResultsinHealth
Langton has gained a pivotal role in procurement and supply-management monitoring activities and supply-chain reviews in sub-Saharan African countries. He is currently one of the key resource persons in countries benefiting from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria: "I enjoy working in African countries, and it gives me pride and satisfaction to use my knowledge and experience in countries in the region."

Elizabeth Wrench

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Elizabeth is a pharmacist with extensive experience in procurement and supply management of pharmaceuticals and health products. She has managed large-scale regional procurement requiring distribution to over 20 separate island locations. Elizabeth is well versed in inventory control and has experience introducing tools in low-income settings. She understands the challenges of health systems and how to use LMIS to assist with forecasting, consumption reports, quantification and procurement and distribution planning. She has a special interest in capacity building and training of local counterparts to use these tools and many aspects of inventory control. Elizabeth has also undertaken a variety of review and assessment of procurement and supply management systems. English is Elizabeth's mother tongue, and she is also competent in spoken French.

Elizabeth has assessed procurement and supply management capacity in SE Asia and hopes to continue working with Results in Health. "I enjoy working with the experienced team at ResultsinHealth and look forward to future opportunities to strengthen access to essential medicines in Global Fund-supported countries".

Kemal Hussein

Background
Based in Ethiopia, Kemal is a Procurement and Supply Management Expert with over 20 years of experience in a variety of African countries, including Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa. In addition, Kemal has a rich set of experiences in various organizations and at multiple levels of operation. The focus of his work has been on procurement, quantification of needs, supply-chain management, training and capacity building and management of warehouse operations. He is fluent in English and Amharic.

Key achievement at ResultsinHealth
Kemal became part of the ResultsinHealth Procurement and Supply Management Experts team in 2013. Since then he has been involved in procurement and supply-chain management reviews for Global Fund grants in several African countries. Kemal is passionate about ensuring populations’ access to safe, high quality and affordable essential medicines. This passion is visible in his work for ResultsinHealth. In his own words “I have worked in a variety of settings in the past, but the scale of ResultsinHealth’ operations in its Global Fund portfolio is so much higher. I feel that the impact of my work is higher now and it gives me much more satisfaction”.

Roberta Coelho

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Roberta is a Brazilian trained pharmacist. She worked in Brazil for over 5 years in private and public sectors, after which she joined Médecins sans Frontières to work for 3 years in a variety of projects in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Based on these experiences she decided to train herself in the field of humanitarian action and related logistics. Roberta’s experience is in the field of health product logistics, mostly in supply chain management, international and local procurement, and training staff in pharmacy management. Roberta speaks her native Portuguese, and English, Spanish and French.

Roberta is highly committed to improving  international development efforts. She calls it “a constant goal in my career”. She finds special satisfaction in the work she is doing with ResultsinHealth, as it has given her a wholly new perspective in helping other societies. Roberta explains that "most important is to make sure that patients have access to quality medicines in adequate quantities! My technical assistance work through ResultsinHealth allows me to propose solutions to partners on how to improve efficiency with the resources available to them, and to ensure the highest quality standards of pharmaceutical services".

Ana Lucía Rendón

Background
Based in Honduras, Ana Lucía is a pharmaceutical advisor with 10 years of experience in Honduras and other countries in Latin America. She worked with NGOs and international organizations in health programmes in her home country, implementing projects to improve access to medicines and other health products for people living with HIV/AIDS. She provided technical assistance and training in pharmaceutical care, supply chain management, and appropriate use. Ana Lucía’s former employment with a Principal Recipient of Global Fund grants made that she understands Global Fund’s operations from inside. Ana Lucía speaks Spanish and English.

Ana Lucía joined the ResultsinHealth team in 2013, and has worked in a variety of countries since then. She tremendously enjoys that her work with ResultsinHealth allowed her to better understand Latin American health and access systems. Tina Patel

Senior Pharmaceutical Management Advisor

Background
Tina is a pharmaceutical procurement expert with 20 years of experience in supporting international NGOs, Ministries of Health and a variety of International Agencies. Through this work she gained extensive experience in conducting evaluations and in mapping and capacity & risk assessments. Her Global Fund work allowed her to gain significant understanding of all issues involved in grant implementation and oversight.

Being part of the RiH & PwC team in reviewing and assessing implementation of HIV, TB and Malaria grants since 2009, Tina has worked in Global Fund grants in East Africa, the Horn of Africa and in Southern Africa. She takes extreme pride and pleasure in being part of a team that is fully committed and dedicated to improving access to health and health care for the three killer diseases.
